The Formalist ceased publication after the fall/winter 2004 issue (15:2). We greatly appreciate your support over the past 15 years, and we wish you the very best.

The annual Howard Nemerov Sonnet Award competition will still continue. Next year's deadline will be November 15, 2005; the final Judge will be Charles Martin; and the winning poem will receive $1,000 and publication in Measure: An Annual Review of Formal Poetry. The complete guidelines will appear on this website early next year, and they'll also be announced in Poets and Writers.

We plan to keep the website open, and back issues of The Formalist are still available.
